La petite bande de la demoiselle de Nemours, the instrumental Collegium Musicum of the University of Delaware, was founded in the Fall of 1991. The ensemble is open to undergraduate and graduate students from the Department of Music, other departments of the University of Delaware, and members of the community. La bande de Nemours makes use of a substantial collection of period instruments and performs music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque.
Ensembles are formed based on the performers' interest and abilities. A sample of possible ensembles:
The University of Delaware Baroque Chamber Ensemble, founded
in the Spring of 1997, specializes in the chamber music of the Baroque
era, played on period instruments. The instrumentation of the ensemble
includes strings, flute, oboe, recorder, horn, bassoon and harpsichord.
The ensemble is directed by David Myford.
